The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
