(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
