Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Scripture that maketh plain 2 (That) We sent it down one night of blessing -- so that We could warn -- 3 On this night, every absolute command coming from Us becomes distinguishable. 4 The command that We have been sending 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, if only ye would be convinced. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and makes to die; your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger. 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 "Send the servants of God with me. I am a trustworthy Messenger sent to you. 18 And saying, “And do not rebel against Allah; I have brought a clear proof to you.” 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night you will be pursued.” 23 “And leave the sea as it is, parted in several places; indeed that army will be drowned.” 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 And crops and noble sites 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 We gave these as an inheritance to other people. 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
