The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38
