The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
