and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
