He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
