The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 upon couches gazing; 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
