Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In high empyrean 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
