The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
