The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
