The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
