And a believing man of Firon's people who hid his faith said: What! will you slay a man because he says: My Lord is Allah, and indeed he has brought to you clear arguments from your Lord? And if he be a liar, on him will be his lie, and if he be truthful, there will befall you some of that which he threatens you (with); surely Allah does not guide him who is extravagant, a liar: 28 My people, today the kingdom is yours, and you are supreme in the land. But if Allah's chastisement were to come upon you, who will come to our help?” Pharaoh said: “I only counsel what I consider right; I only direct you to the Path of Rectitude.” 29 And he who believed said: O my people! Lo! I fear for you a fate like that of the factions (of old); 30 “Like the tradition of the people of Nooh, and Aad, and Thamud and others after them; and Allah does not will injustice upon bondmen.” 31 "And O my people! I fear for you a Day when there will be Mutual calling (and wailing),- 32 the Day when you will [wish to] turn your backs and flee, having none to defend you against God: for he whom God lets go astray can never find any guide. 33 Joseph came to you before with clear signs, but you never ceased to doubt the message he brought you. When he died, you said, 'God will not send another messenger.'"" In this way God leaves the transgressors and doubters to go astray -- 34 Those who wrangle concerning the signs of Allah without any authority that hath come unto them. It is greatly abhorrent unto Allah and unto those who believe. Thus Allah sealeth up the heart of any stiff-necked, high-handed, person. 35 Pharaoh said, 'Haman, build for me a tower, that haply so I may reach the cords, 36 the ways of heaven so that I may look upon the God of Moses, because I think that he is a liar' And so Pharaoh's evil deeds were made to seem fair to him, and he was barred from the Way. And Pharaoh's guile came to nothing except ruin. 37
