The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
