Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed... 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 for an appointed time? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor shall they be given permission, so that they can apologize. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
