He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
