The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
