Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
