The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
