The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
