Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
