Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
