The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He created the human 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
