And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until Moses returns to us." 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 Did you disobey my orders?" 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 Said Moosa, “And what is your explanation, O Samri?” 95 He answered: "I have gained insight into something which they were unable to see: and so I took hold of a handful of the Apostle's teachings and cast it away: for thus has my mind prompted me [to act]." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your God is only One, Allah. There is no god, except He, alone. His knowledge encompasses all things. 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whoever turns aside from it, he shall surely bear a burden on the day of resurrection 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 The day the trumpet blast is sounded We shall raise the sinners blind, 102 Whispering secretly among themselves, “You have not stayed on earth but for ten days.” 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
