And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 so that they might eat of its fruit and the labor of their hands. Will they not give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And [of Our sway over all that exists] they have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day - and lo! they are in darkness. 37 While the sun keeps revolving in its orbit. This is the dispensation of the mighty, all-knowing (God). 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They are only waiting for a single blast that will seize them, but they will go on contending. 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50
