Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 Yet [it has always happened] that certain kinds of humans would seek refuge with certain kinds of [such] invisible forces: but these only increased their confusion 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
