Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
