He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
