The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 none can avert that. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 such as play at plunging, 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
