Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the dawn 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 The night as it advances, 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 the people of the huge columned city of Eram 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 and you do not urge one another to feed the needy, 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 Nor shall any bind with His bond. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 Return unto thine Lord well pleased and well-pleasing. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
