And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
