The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "Tell him 'Do you have the inclination to become pure?' 18 And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
