He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
