The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
