The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
