Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
