S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. 14
