۞ And when the son of Maryam is held up, an example, behold! thy people thereat cry out. 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 When Jesus came with clear signs, he said, "Now I have come to you with wisdom, in order to make clear to you some of the things about which you dispute: therefore fear God and obey me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
