Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
