The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
