A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 The Book has been sent down to you; so let your chest have no constriction because of it, in order to warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
