He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
