The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
