He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
