The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 that hide, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
