The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
