The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 none can avert that. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
