He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
