The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
