The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 [It is] the freeing of one's neck [from the burden of sin,] 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
